CES: New Corning Gorilla Glass is Antimicrobial
LAS VEGAS, USA – Corning has announced an Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass, protecting mobile device displays from bacteria.
The new Gorilla Glass is EPA-registered and is formulated with ionic silver and antibacterial agent, which is placed on the glass surface and keeps it free from any kind of microbes or bacteria. However, Corning has promised that the addition of the new surface is not going to affect the clarity of the Gorilla Glass at any cost.
The senior vice president and general manager, Corning Specialty Materialsm James R Steiner further explained the technology: “Since you touch your mobile device often, bacteria can exist on the screen of these devices. Corning Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass help address this growing concern, which inhibits the growth of algae, mold, mildew, fungi, and bacteria because of its built-in antimicrobial property. This is effective for the lifetime of a device”.
The new technology can be installed in various electronic devices like computers, cell-phones, electronic display panels, telephones and calculators.
