MOUNTAIN VIEW, USA –  Google has launched its Android Wear project, specifically created for smart wearables. The first device likely to carry this software is the Moto 360.

Soon after the launch both Motorola and LG banked on this opportunity and announced their own smartwatches based on the platform.

Android Wear is a project from Google that aims to bring a suitable user interface to wearables through which users can instantly reply to a message instead of taking out their smartphone  from their pockets.

The software will host a big pool of Android applications thereby bringing the latest posts and updates from social apps, information from news and photography apps, and chats from messaging apps.

Moreover, the voice-activated “Ok Google” feature helps users find solutions to almost everything right from hiring a taxi, booking a hotel, and checking flight times.

Android Wear should help users to stay fit and follow their daily fitness regime by reminders and tracking their real-time speed, distance and time for cycle, run or walk activities.  In addition, with the “Ok Google” command users can activate a music playlist and even cast a movie to a TV.

Soon after the release of Android Wear, Motorola on the same day announced its new smartwatch based on it. However, instead of the conventional square design that most smartwatches today offer, Motorola preferred the classic round dial for its Moto 360 device.

Besides the features offered by Android Wear, a subtle twist to the user’s wrist will get them through emails, missed calls details or notifications received. A highlight of this smartwatch is that users can wear it in any hand-left or right and the screen will automatically adjust to a straight view.

After Motorola, LG’s G Watch entered into the list of smart-wearables based on Android Wear. The device will flaunt its various Google specific abilities, which includes working with the Google Now and the “Ok Google” voice commands.

The Moto 360 will be released this Summer 2014 (from June), but the price hasn’t been made available.
