BlackBerry Curve 2 Coming Soon

Blackberry 8530 Curve 2WATERLOO, Canada – Reports have come in that the Curve 8530 is on it’s way. The 8520 was recently released, but only on T-Mobile’s GSM network.

That particular Curve model was also the first Blackberry device that was released with the optical trackpad, which replaced the navigational trackball. PhoneReport was indeed correct when the device codenamed Aries came up, and reported it to probably be the 8530 model. This isn’t particularly exciting news considering the device is basically the same as its sister model, the 8520, with the exception of the carrier.

These two models will probably become the main ones to sell as low-end and less expensive devices. The new model will of course have Wi-Fi. The smartphone will most likely be released in November, a month after the Storm 2 9550. This should add a strong boost in sales for the holiday season for Verizon Wireless, which will probably still be running its successful “buy one Blackberry get one free” promotional campaign.

There still aren’t any official specifications, but those will surely be released in the upcoming weeks, or maybe even months. After all, November is still a while away. The Curve 2 isn’t a particularly exciting development, considering both the recent release of the Tour and the rumors surrounding it for months now, but it should still be a solid device.
