BlackBerry 8250 Curve live imageWATERLOO, Canada – The newest addition to RIM’s Curve family of smartphones will be finding more customers as the new 8520 has been released in the UK and will soon be launching in Latin America.

The device is the first to be released with the new optical trackpad technology and marks a new wave of smartphone devices. The Curve family is a smaller one, and is on the inexpensive side of RIM’s product line-up. Thus, the Curve is perfect as a device for people of countries of lesser economic status to get a smartphone for a low cost. The idea rumored is that most Latin American countries will have the phone available with “pay-as-you-go” plans.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Vodafone has released the Curve 8520 in the U.K.. In Europe, the Wireless company is promoting the device with an even better deal than America’s Verizon Wireless. Verizon started a promotional campaign last holiday season with a ‘Buy one Blackberry get one free’ slogan that resulted in a large number of sales. This of course only applied to those who were starting or renewing a two-year contract. Vodafone’s promotion is similar, and is only available for those willing to sign a lengthy and expensive contract. Users will find out soon enough whether Vodafone is experiencing the same success.
