BlackBerry 9020 OnyxWATERLOO, Canada – New rumors and photos of the Blackberry 9020 Onyx have hit the internet, and speculation of the device and what RIM plans to do with it ensues.

The new picture of the unreleased wireless device shows it sporting a navigational trackball. This is surprising, considering earlier pictures depicted the device with the optical trackpad that Research In Motion seems to be using on newly released phones these days.

Two new phones have been fitted with the trackpad since the original photos of the Onyx 9020 model appeared with it: the Curve 8520 and Tour 9630. The new picture is probably of an early production model, that has since been replaced, due to the popularity of the new navigational feature.

RIM still hasn’t made any official announcements on the release of the Onyx yet, or what its exact specifications will look like. The test models features built-in Wi-Fi,  a high-resolution display with 480×360 pixels, full multimedia playback, a 3.2 megapixel camera, 256MB of built-in memory, and of course, the optical trackpad.

The newest Blackberry seems like a solid addition to RIM’s lineup, but users still have to wait to get any official announcements on the device’s capability and release date.
