Blackberry Releases Tour with Positive Results

BlackBerry Tour 9630 (2)BASKING RIDGE and OVERLAND PARK, USA –┬áResearch In Motion has released the 9630 Tour model for both Verizon Wireless and Sprint, with many looking forward to the newest Blackberry smartphone.

The Tour contains most of the features one would expect from a smartphone in today’s market, including 3G capability, a 3.2 Megapixel camera, full backlit QWERTY keyboard, navigational trackball, and a high-resolution screen with 480×360 pixels. The one major aspect that RIM has once again excluded is Wi-Fi. This is the second Verizon phone RIM has developed recently that has not included Wi-Fi capability, much to the dismay of most smartphone users.

The Tour’s size is its most obvious feature. While it is slightly smaller than both the Storm and the Bold, it is particularly larger then the Curve 8900. The Tour is being aimed at the user group who finds the Bold too bulky, and the Curve too slender as it is basically is a hybrid of the two models.

The main drawback is its lack of Wi-Fi support, which certainly helps with internet-browsing indoors, where 3G isn’t always the most reliable web source. ┬áThe phone most probably will not draw-in huge crowds as it does not innovate in any aspect, nor is it going to bring in new users from different carriers considering that it isn’t a carrier exclusive. What the Tour does offer is a good alternative for those who aren’t completely satisfied with their Bold or Curve, but still need a BlackBerry.
