LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live Debut with Android Wear

SAN FRANCISCO, USA –  Two smartwatches, namely the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live, based on Google’s Android Wear platform, were announced at the Google I/O developer conference 2014.

The Samsung Gear Live looks quite similar to the Gear Neo, with the only difference of the bottom button on the bezels being shifted to the sides. Looking to its specs, it hosts a 1.63-inch display with 320×320 pixel resolution. At its heart lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. The memory options include 512MB of RAM with 4GB of internal storage. The battery capacity of the smartwatch is 300mAh.

Samsung Gear Live Android Wear

The Gear Live is water- and dust-resistant as it comes with a IP67 certification. Additionally, the watch has a built-in accelerometer, heart rate monitor, compass and gyroscope. The Samsung Gear Live comes in Black and Red Wine color options with a competitive price of $199. Customers can already pre-order the device in certain regions.

The LG G Watch hosts a slightly larger 1.65-inch LCD IPS display with a 280×280 pixel resolution. It has similar Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The battery capacity of LG G Watch is also larger at 400mAh, and LG proudly calls its display to be “always-on”, which the company claims to consume less power.

The LG G Watch too comes with IP67 certification and weighs just 63 grams. The device released with two color options of Black Titan and White Gold and is available for pre-order in certain regions. It is likely to undergo shipping from July 7th onwards carrying a price of $229.
