The Samsung Galaxy S5 has been rooted with the help of towelroot tool, which has been tested and is working on the AT&T version, along with other devices for the carrier. Here are few simple steps to apply in order to root a Galaxy S5 through the towelroot tool:

  1. Download the Towelroot APK file which is indicated with lambda sign
  2. From a mobile browser, download the APK file and tick the “Install from unknown sources” option in settings.
  3. If downloaded on the PC,  sideload the Towelroot APK, and install it on the handset.
  4. Run the Towelroot app and click on the “Make it ra1n” button in the middle. Wait for 15 seconds for the phone to reboot after which users can remove any bloatware, TouchWiz and ads. Once the phone is rooted, the doors for custom ROMs and tweaks will open.
  5. In addition, if users have a kernel dated after June 3rd, they should install the previous kernel for the device which will offer new features.
