ASUS MeMO Pad 7 and 8, Fonepad 8, Transformer Book V Debut

TAIPEI, Taiwan – Asus has launched a new range of Android tablets – the MeMO Pad 7, MeMO Pad 8 and Fonepad 8 –  along with an Android/Windows hybrid smartphone, the Transformer Book V.


The Asus MeMO Pad 7 (pictured above) is a 7-inch tablet that comes with a 64-bit Intel quad-core Atom Z3745 chipset that is clocked at 1.86GHz. The device will have a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.

The Asus MeMO Pad 8 is an 8-inch tablet supporting Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.3GHz. The company calls it the lightest tablet with just 299 grams in the 8 inch segment. Its display offers a full HD resolution, and it hosts a Wi-Fi and LTE modem inside.

The Asus Fonepad 8 is an 8-inch smartphone offering a display with 1280×800 pixel resolution and has an Intel 64 bit Atom Z3560 quad-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. It brings a dual front-facing speaker, and runs on Android skinned with the ZenUI.

ASUS Transformer Book V

The Asus Transformer Book V (pictured above) is a 5-in-1 device, runs both Android and Windows 8.1, and can be operated in either laptop or tablet mode. The device can also be used as a Android phone. In a laptop mode it hosts a 12.5-inch HD display with a “next generation Intel chipset” and offers a swap between Windows 8.1 and Android with a one-touch button, along with 1TB of storage. On detaching it from the dock, it will work with Windows 8.1, offering 128GB of internal storage. Users need to insert the 5-inch Android phone inside the tablet to switch it to that operating system. The phone offers a quad-core processing unit with LTE support and a 2500mAh of battery capacity.
