Samsung Z Outed as the First Tizen Smartphone

SEOUL, South Korea – Samsung has launched its first Tizen-based smartphone, the Samsung Z.

The Samsung Z hosts a 4.9-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280×720 pixel resolution, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8MP primary camera, 2.1MP secondary camera, 16GB of internal storage with microSD card support. The device has an NFC and IR sensors and offers 2600mAh of battery capacity.

It is an LTE-enabled handset and boasts the same Ultra Power Saving Mode just like the Galaxy S5. It also has a fingerprint sensor and brings S Health 3.0. The Samsung Z is likely to be made available in two color variants of black and gold. Along with the smartphone, Samsung has also brought the Tizen OS to its latest Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch.

The Samsung Z is likely to arrive in Russia in the third quarter of this year and its global launch will follow soon after it. The company hasn’t voiced any word yet regarding the pricing of the device.
