Sony Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z Get KitKat Officially

TOKYO, Japan – Sony has scheduled the Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL and the Xperia Tablet Z to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update. All of these devices were launched in the first half of 2013, and as scheduled in the mid-Q2 time frame, these devices are the first to get it.

As usual, these updates will come with all the standard Android features, which include better memory management, improved performance, wireless printing support, full-screen “immersive” mode, white status bar icons and much more. In addition, some of the Sony offers involve MyXperia, Messaging, Smart Social Camera, WALKMAN, a live wall paper, new launch animations to match the UI on PS4, quick settings page with more customizable options and a tweaked status bar. An option to install and use the third party themes has also been available thereby allowing the users to customize the UI in different ways.

The update could reach users in a couple of days as it is a staged roll-out. However, users must check their Update Center app and Sony’s PC Companion software for it.
