Android-based Oppo R1 Launches with Mid-end Specs

GUANGDONG, China – Oppo has launched the Oppo R1, a new smartphone that comes reasonable specs for its price.

Oppo is a Chinese smartphone maker company and has its roots extended to the international market.

The device is available in China and soon the company will release it on a global platform.

Taking a dig into its specs, the Oppo R1 features a 5.25” 720p HD touchscreen, an 8MP primary camera with LED flash and an impressive 5MP secondary camera. It runs on a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor with PowerVR SGX544 graphics, has a 1GB RAM and 16GB of storage.

The handset offers conventional features like HSPA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS, and provides enough battery juice of 2,410mAh that ensures sufficient hours of operation with the device. Moreover, it runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and has Oppo’s own Color OS layer at the top.

The entire device is packed in just 7.1mm thickness and weighs 140 grams.

The Oppo R1 is priced at 2,498 Yuan in China, which would equate to nearly US$ 400 or €300 in the international market. It is quoted slightly higher than other midrange smartphones in the market, but Oppo hopes that it will let it sell in good numbers.
