High-speed internet has been the top-most requirement of today’s working generation. Just when 4G has managed to make its presence felt in office desks and homes, Huawei has already geared up its research for the next 5G gigabit-per-second wireless internet connections.

5G speed

Huawei has invested nearly $600m for 5G research that will be carried out next year. It is expected that 5G may roll out till 2020. Huawei has claimed that once 5G arrives, it may give data speeds of up to 10 gbps, which would be approximately a hundred times faster than 4G.

5G will certainly establish new standards of air-interface technology. Huawei’s CEO Eric XU said that “there are several issues that must be resolved before 5G can become a reality. These include the availability of spectrum and technological challenges, such as how to engineer network architectures capable of handling increasingly higher data volumes and transmission speeds necessary to accommodate more users on the network”.

Huawei, along with other technology giants Samsung, Telefonica and BT, has pumped nearly 35 million pounds to establish the 5G Innovation Centre that will be functional from 2015 and will host nearly 250 scientists and students.
