State-run Korean Central News Agency reports that Kim Jong Un visited a factory in Pyongyang that reportedly manufactures the Android handset. The supreme leader reportedly praised the employees’ ingenuity and patriotic enthusiasm in building the modern handset.

Kim’s visit to the factory last week came two years since he last visited the plant. In the prior visit, Kim accompanied his father, Kim Jong Il, to tour a flat-screen LCD TV assembly line. PhoneRPT recently reported on a North Korean Android tablet which is said to be assembled in the country.

This time, according to KCNA, Kim touted the new hand phones that are being successfully mass produced in the country using indigenous technologies.

Photos released by the state-run media, however, does not show actual manufacturing but only show workers inspecting already-finished products. Reports say that the country still has limited knowledge in mobile hardware technology and may have obtained the components from China.
