SHENZHEN, China – Device-maker Huawei announced not one, not two, but three new Ascend Android smartphones – G615, G520, and G510. The new handsets are retailing for midrange smartphone pricing while still offering features found in high-end phones.

To soon become available in Germany for EUR 300 ($400), the Huawei Ascend G615 boasts of high-end and powerful hardware, although its built-in software is not the latest version of Android. Other than its outdated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, the Ascend G615 boasts of impressive specs: a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, a 4.5-inch 720p HD IPS touchscreen, 1 GB of RAM, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p full HD video recording support, a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 8 GB of built-in storage space expandable via microSD, and a 2 150 mAh battery.

The Huawei Ascend G520 is not a superphone – it doesn’t have a Tegra or a Qualcomm quad-core CPU, an 8MP shooter, or at least 1 GB of RAM.┬áBut for its $224 price tag in China, it does offer some decent specs: a quad-core Mediatek Mt6589 CPU clocked at 1.2Ghz, 4.5-inch IPS display, 5MP rear camera, and 512MB of RAM.

Expected to retail at EUR 200 ($270), the Huawei Ascend G510 is a mid-range device with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels only on its 4.5-inch IPS display and has just 4 GB of onboard storage, although there is a microSD slot for additional storage. The rest of the specs are satisfactory: a 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek MT6577 chip with PowerVR SGX531 graphics chip, 512MB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and 5MP and 0.3MP cameras.
