BlackBerry App World 3.0 Upgrade Coming

BlackBerry App World 3.0WATERLOO, Canada – There is a screenshot on the web of what looks like BlackBerry App World that doesn’t look like what is on users’ smartphones today.

The new look is more sophisticated, cleaner and with lighter colors, keeping to the carousel display of applications. The search bar is available at the top of the screen, easy to find. Large icons along the bottom for major categories are clear and precise. This takes apps to the center stage, ideal for someone who is looking for a reason to buy a BlackBerry.

Speculation is that the carriers will have their space included; the AT&T logo is a strong hint in that direction. Consolidating the BlackBerry App World with the carrier offerings, simplifies access for users. This addition leads to carrier billing, which also simplifies end user use of App World, and should encourage better use of the app database. There is also a rumor that BlackBerry Messenger will be integrated into the program so that users can share App’s quickly and easily.  Finally, the enterprise App World is expected in this upgrade, allowing enterprises to develop and deliver their private app’s to enterprise users.

The launch date is expected in June or July probably coinciding with the release of the Bold 9900 and OS 7. The BlackBerry PlayBook can expect to see the same release schedule.
