AT&T Helps Families Affected by Tsunami-Earthquake Tragedy

Japan tsunami earthquakeDALLAS, USA – AT&T announced a plan to help the families of the victims of the tsunami and earthquake that took place in Japan. In order to help family members contact their loved ones in Japan, the company is offering multiple free options.

For wireless customers, there will be no charge for calling or text messages sent from the US to Japan. Customers residing in Puerto Rico can make free calls to Japan but text messages may not be included. Land line customers can also receive free long distance to Japan but must get prior authorization.

Either option used will either show up as a free charge on a customer’s bill or be charged and then a credit will be applied to the account to cancel out any charges for the services included.

In addition to the free calling and text messaging, AT&T is temporarily adding TV Japan to all customer’s U-verse TV for free. TV Japan is a 24 hour news station in Japan. The station will be broadcast on channel 3680 and available starting March 17th.

These AT&T offers are valid now until March 31, 2010.

Regardless of  wireless carry, anyone is free to text “redcross” to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross to assist with relief assistance. The text message is not charged by any carrier.
