Blackberry OS Leaks

BlackBerry logoWATERLOO, Canada – There have been several operating system leaks in the past week. RIM is preparing to upgrade all upcoming Blackberry models coming out later this year with the new OS 5.0.

Research In Motion’s latest upgrade should come standard on most models being released this holiday season, including the Storm 2 9550 and Curve 2 8530.  The upgrade will also be available for current models such as the newly released Tour 9630. There was also a leak on the upcoming upgrade for the Blackberry Bold 9000.

Leaks are far from an uncommon thing when it comes to smartphone operating systems. While it typically isn’t encouraged, downloading pre-release software does have its benefits, not necessarily for the user, but for the community. The software can never be 100% reliable, thus those who do download it need to be careful. Many trial devices are sent to hardcore BlackBerry users around the world for early reactions. Although it probably isn’t intentional, OS leaks have a similar effect. Those who do try the unreleased operating systems are typically able to give an early idea to the Blackberry community as to what expect. It also allows for the extra bug detection and helps developers target early problems.
